Model
UN is an opportunity for 8th and 9th graders to learn more about world
politics, history, research, public speaking and diplomacy. During Model
UN meetings, members can work on researching global issues, delve into
the history and culture of their assigned countries, write a position
paper, draft a resolution, and practice speaking in front of others.
This activity requires a good amount of hard work, but it also is a
good deal of fun for those willing to make the commitment!
Science
Club is open to every SWJH Student and meets once each month on Tuesdays
during the school year. Activities range from visiting the portable
planetarium to sampling and testing water from a local pond and include
all types of science. Students may choose to attend all club activities
or just the ones of most interest to them. Sometimes extra-credit is
offered in science classes for attending Science Club meetings, and
often snacks are provided!
6th graders, do you need a quiet work environment to get your homework completed in? If so, join your classmates for Study Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:00. A teacher will always be there to lend a helping hand. Please meet in Ms. Harder’s room.
The Stock
Market Challenge is open to any student who wants to have a great time
while learning how to develop a stock portfolio worth at least $100,000
and then try to increase its value. A student may play as an individual
or in a group of up to four people. We will meet once a month (as a group)
during school hours to discuss the students' progress and discuss any
concerns they might have. If you're interested in participating, please
see Ms. Lotton-Barker in room 110.
Social
Awareness Forum is a club dedicated to educating ourselves about issues
confronting our city, nation, and world. It is our goal to help our fellow
citizens through community service. We embrace differences of opinions
and all are welcome here. Meetings are held bi-weekly throughout the
year.

from 3:15-4:00 on school days other than Wednesday and from 1:45-4:00
