Announcements

Today is the last literary luncheon of the 2011-12 school year. Come on down to the ER over lunch to talk about great books!

All boys interested in summer basketball camps at Lawrence High School need to plan to attend a meeting tomorrow during advisory with Coach Lewis . Coach Lewis will have information for all 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys attending Lawrence High School.

Tech Club will be holding a last minute special meeting this Thursday, May 18. Come to the ER at 3:15 to hear a guest speaker talk to us about summer opportunities in the world of computer programming. Hope to see you there!

There will be another Habitat for Humanity meeting today right after school in Ms. Lopez's room. All grades are welcome to attend!

Bulldog gardeners: Don't miss out on a chance to help build the Southwest Garden. We'll be working from 10:15-2:15 next Saturday, May 19, rain or shine. Wear grubby clothes and meet by the flagpole. Snacks and water will be provided, but bring a sack lunch if you want. There will be opportunities to volunteer in the garden during the summer. Listen to announcements later this week for details.

Thank you to all the students who returned library books on time. If you still have books in your locker or at home, please return them immediately. You will be billed at the end of the year for all missing books.

Lost and found items have been put out on tables by the office. Please check the tables for any items you may have lost throughout the year. There are lots of coats, shirts, lunch boxes, and shoes, as well as many other items. If you're missing things like glasses, keys, jewelry, or phones, please check with Mrs. Rhoton. Those items are kept separate.

Attention to all 6th graders who have not yet reached age 13... Here is a summer opportunity! Come be a part of the Lawrence Police Department Police Camp held at Free State High School June 7th-9th. Activities include police and fire demonstrations, underwater search and recovery team, helicopter team, humane society, evidence collection, and karate demonstrations. You'll learn weather safety, personal safety, and other fun stuff and participate in team competitions. You'll meet KU athletes and have a pizza lunch on the last day. Go see Officer Jay for information on attending.

Sixth and 7th graders, if you're returning to Southwest next year and would like to check out a stack of books for the summer, we have a way for you to do that. Pick up a form in the library, get your parent's signature, and then you're allowed to check out up to 10 books over the summer.
