All ambassadors need to stop by the Guidance Office for end of the year and summer information. Garden Club will meet for the last time this year today after-school. Please meet in room 710 at 3pm or meet us out back in the gardens until 4:30 or 5pm. The SW School Garden would like to invite any SW student, parent, or staff member to join us to work in the gardens each Monday and Thursday morning between 8 and 10am all summer long. Please stop by whenever  you can and help us to care for our School Gardens!  We will also have a weekly market by the front entrance each Thursday afternoon from 4:30 to 5:30 PM starting in June.   Please stop by to purchase some fresh organic produce and support your School Garden Project!    Lost and found items are now on tables outside the office.  Please check for items you have lost.  All items not claimed will be donated to charity at the end of the school year.  Please see Mrs. Rhoton if you're missing items such as cell phones, glasses, cameras, keys or jewelry, as those items are kept separate. Library news!  We have 312 overdue library books still out.  The last day of school is fast approaching.   Please return your SW library books! Check your locker, your backpack and your bedroom for library books.   You will be charged for lost books this summer, so don't delay, return today. Last in library news, if you are a 6th or 7th grader and you'd like to check books out over the summer, pick up a permission slip today.  Once a parent has signed you may pick 10 library books to check out for the summer.  Whether you get your books from our library, the public library, or elsewhere, keep reading all summer! The new issue of IKE, the Southwest magazine showcasing writing and art of our students, is now available. Pick  up a copy in the office for $5.00. Calendar No Events Today Special Announcements Happy Summer! 2013 Summer Opportunities Attendance Policy Appointment/Early Pick-up: If a student needs to leave school for an appointment, a parent or guardian must send a written note with the student showing the time he/she is to leave.  The student shows the note to his/her teacher to leave class and brings the note to the office to check out.  This keeps us from having to interrupt the class and saves the parent from having to wait in the office while the student is being called.  If someone other than a parent/guardian is picking up a student, that person’s name must be included on the note. Students will not be released to anyone other than a parent/guardian without written permission from a parent.  Students must check in and out with the attendance secretary for all appointments.  If a student does not check out with the attendance office, the absence will not be excused.  Your adhering to this policy is appreciated. Illness/Absence: Attendance information should be called into the office no later than 8:00 am on the date of the absence by the parent/guardian.  If a guardian does not call in an absence, a written excuse that includes the student’s name, date of absence and reason for absence must be submitted to the main office within 3 school days of the absence.  After 3 days, the absence will be recorded as unexcused and will not be changed.  There is also an answering machine available for parents needing to leave a message outside of school hours (832-5550).
